Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)

The splice and end seal can be opened and closed without the need to replace parts. If the E-150 end seal is being reused on a new heating cable, use a new sealing boot

The installation of both is very simple and well explained in the installation instructions. Remember that the components are cold applied, requiring no torch or heat gun.

For Raychem JBS-100, JBM-100, E-100, and E-100-L components, select the appropriate pipe strap from the following list:   Pipes 20 till 47 mm (1/2" to 1 1/4") use pipe strap PSE-047  Pipes 40 till 90 mm (1 1/4" to 3")  use pipe strap PSE-090  Pipes 60 till 288 mm (2" to 10")  use pipe strap PSE-280, except for the JBM-100 where PSE-540 should be used.   For Pipes 60 till 540 mm (2" to 20") , use pipe strap PSE-540 for all kits. These sizes are correct for use with or without the small pipe adapter included in the kit.

The QTVR heating cables are approved for use in hazardous area Zone 1 and Zone 2, as well as Zone 21 and Zone 22 by PTB (II 2 G/D EEx e(m) II T4 IP66 T130°C - PTB 98 ATEX 1103 X) and Baseefa (II 2 GD EEx e II T4- BAS98ATEX2337X). They are also VDE approved.

(1161)

The XTV heating cables are approved for use in hazardous areas Zone 1 and Zone 2, as well as Zone 21 and Zone 22, by PTB (II 2 G/D EEx e(m) II T4/T3/250°C(T2 IP66 T130°C, T195°C, T250°C - PTB 98 ATEX 1105 X) and Baseefa (II 2 GD EEx e II T3 and 240°C (T2) - BAS98ATEX2336X). They are also VDE approved.

For comfort and energy saving reasons, we recommend to use the Raychem NRG-Temp thermostat. The T2Red self-regulating heating cable requires an inrush current at start up. The NRG-Temp has been designed to withstand this inrush current. If another thermostat is used and the switching capacity of the thermostat is less than 13A, the heating system should be switched on through a contactor.

(1035)

No. The new components are approved as a system and can not be used in other configurations.

(1138)

Yes. Although the box opening will face a certain direction after installation, that direction can be changed by following the steps shown in the installation instructions.

(1131)

Thermostats like the new RAYSTAT-EX-03 can be directly connected to the box without any additional terminals (JBS) or a reduction of the capacity for the number of heaters (JBM). The power cable coming out of these thermostats can carry phase, neutral and earth. For use with RAYSTAT-EX-02 and similar thermostats that only have one entry, additional WAGO terminals have to be installed in the boxes. You need one phase terminal (WAGO 284-691), one earth terminal (WAGO 284-607), and one end plate (WAGO 284-318) which can be ordered from your local electrical distributor or ordered as a kit from Pentair Thermal Management (HWA-WAGO-TSTAT-KIT). This construction can be used for direct switching up to 25A.

The KTV heating cables are approved for use in hazardous areas Zone 1 and Zone 2, as well as Zone 21 and Zone 22 by PTB (II 2 G/D EEx e(m) II T4/T3/226°C(T2) IP66 T130°C, T195°C, T226°C - PTB 98 ATEX 1104 X) and Baseefa (II 2 GD EEx e II 226°C (T2) - BAS98ATEX2335X). They are also VDE approved.

(1162)

The BTV heating cables are approved for use in hazardous area Zone 1 and Zone 2, as well as Zone 21 and Zone 22 by PTB (II 2 G/D EEx e(m) II T6 IP66 T80°C - PTB 98 ATEX 1102 X) and Baseefa (II 2 GD EEx e II T6 - BAS98ATEX2338X). They are also VDE approved.

(1163)

Yes, the TCONTROL-CONT-02 is compatible with most thermocouples and supports volt and mA input as well.

(1278)

Yes, when taking into account the specific environmental requirements which may apply.

(1231)

No, for frost protection, Raychem offers the frost protection  heating cables FS.

(1202)

No.  The hazardous area approval of the thermostats allows for the connection of one cable per terminal entry only.

(1294)

YES.  For this purpose we supply the GL-38-M25-METAL (to be ordered separately).  This cable gland can be used for cables with an outer diameter between 8,5 and 16 mm

(1290)

YES.  The limiting factor is the 16A switching capacity and eventually the cross section of the power feeder cables.

(1289)
